There are several options for using Promethean software without an Activeboard or Panel.

MIMIO and ACTIVINSPIRE and CLASSFLOW
Make your whiteboard interactive by using a Mimio. If you have an old Mimio, you can trade for credit toward new OR see if our Louisiana Promethean provider (AXI Education Solutions) is having a trade in offer.
Instead of using the Mimio software(MimioStudio), use your Promethean ActivInspire software (if you own it). Everything will look the same to you except you would use the mimio pen and your dry erase board will now be the interactive board.
This isn’t the best option, but is a good option until you can purchase a Promethean Board.
Option: Instead of Mimio you could use an iPevo IW2 for $169.
Don’t own ActivInspire? No Problem! Promethean now has ClassFlow software. You can use the online version for FREE on ANY interactive whiteboard product or use your projector, tablet, and app such as Splashtop!- This reply was modified 7 years, 1 month ago by Lisa Dick.

iPAD and CLASSFLOW
Classflow is similar to ActivInspire software “in the Cloud” and but doesn’t have some of the same features that ActivInspire has. It DOES have a student app which is a cool plus. Classflow is made my Promethean and FREE. It is meant to be interactive with students.
If you already have ActivInspire lessons, you can import them easily into Classflow.
You could use an iPad or other tablet with a stylus and teach like normal except it is displayed on your dryerase board via projector and you are writing on a tablet such as an iPad. You will need an adaptor or other way to connect iPad to projector but this is under $50.
OPTIONS: This can be an iPad, Kindle, Galaxy, computer etc.anything with internet access. You can also get rid of the connector for projector and use Reflector (see below).

ACTIVINSPIRE, iPAD, and REFLECTOR
You can use ActivInspire software on your computer (if *own the software) but control it via your iPad, so in this option your iPad (or other device) is connected to your computer wirelessly via a software called Reflector ($14.99). It does exactly as the name suggests; it reflects anything on your computer. Like above you just use your stylus and work like normal via tablet displayed through projector.
*Own doesn’t mean you downloaded the free version from the internet. That version can not be legally displayed. Own refers to purchase of software.

ACTIVINSPIRE and ACTIVSLATE
Instead of using an iPad you can use an ActivSlate with ActiveInspire Software (purchase slate and hub for 291.72 + 92.52). The Slate totally operates your software but does take getting use to due to needing to watch the board as write. Some people love it and some don’t. I have a similar one you can test out if this is an avenue you want to try.
OPTION: A less expensive option to the ActivSlate is a wireless Wacom (less than $70).

ACTIVINSPIRE…Personal versus Professional
When you go to Promethean Planet and sign up for your account, you can actually download ActivInspire as a personal OR professional version. You can find out the differences between the two here:
