Classroom Coding & Programming EdTech STEM

Makerspace

This year marks our first full year with a Classroom Makerspace, and WE LOVE IT! Each Friday student were in charge on their own learning and could select from classroom resources or bring their own.  Pretty much the only rule was “you have to be making.”

Made a guitar during #makerspace day! #edchat

Our Makey Makey’s were a huge hit!  They even found ways to have video game challenges by making their own game controllers.  Other creations included guitars, paper pianos, and more.
More #makerspace fun .... Story creation, circuits, arduino, graphic creation, and yes more rockets and #googlecardboard
We also made numerous items with Snap Circuits from FM radios (yes, seriously!) to flying objects to a lie detector.  Ok, the lie detector wasn’t exactly accurate, but while trying to figure out how accurate they determined what affected the results and it’s approximate accuracy.
We had a variety of other electronic and robot options such as the Arduino, Lego Ev3, BoeBot, and Sphero.  Sphero was definately a favorite, but they did great getting started with coding using the other options.

EV3 is still a #makerspace fav! #edchat
Of course there was time for art, from drawing to learning Adobe Photoshop to glow in the dark goop and more including photography:)
Of course, there must be music and even a video game tournament which is much harder with paper controllers:) #makerspace #edchat
